Speaker Virginia State Police First Sergeant Joe Crowder

VSP First Sergeant Joe Crowder is currently an assistant Special Agent In Charge (ASAC) of Virginia State Police-Drug Enforcement Section- Salem Field Office.  A 25 year law enforcement veteran who has worked in the field of narcotics for the last 14 years as both an field agent and supervisor.  As a VSP Special Agent, his assignments have included undercover/informant work while assigned to the Roanoke City Vice/Drug unit, a narcotics investigator assigned to the Roanoke Valley Regional HIDTA drug unit (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Unit), a unit responsible for conducting mid and high level drug conspiracies, and as a federal task force officer (TFO) with the DEA.  As an ASAC, he currently supervises 17 Special Agents that conduct drug investigations within the Salem Field Office’s area of responsibility, which encompasses 14 counties and 7 cities and towns in Southwest Virginia.
